Beschreibung

This research aims at examining the implementation of an innovative and theoretically sound online teacher professional development (TPD) format, namely the use of educative curriculum materials (ECM) with online coaching, and its effects on teacher and student learning. The content delivered within the TPD concerns content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge regarding strategy use for multiplication. The longitudinal design of the data collection allows to estimate the effectiveness of the intervention on teacher and student outcomes. The planned research concerns two profile-building research focusses of the university college of teacher education: First, this research focusses on didactics (fachdidaktische Forschung), because it allows for a reassessment of multiplication strategies children use and to compare these findings with prior research (e.g., multiplication strategies as reported by Greiler-Zauchner, 2020). Second, the planned research concerns professional research (Professionsforschung) as it investigates how teachers can be supported to implement state of the art teaching practices.
