Phone Survey of Intervention and Counseling Needs of Elementary School Techers (Child, Parents, Team)
Feedback from educators at the management level of the diocesan child educational and care institutions of the Graz-Seckau Diocese (2017) shows that they are confronted with situations for which they have not developed routine protocol. Possibilities for solution-oriented reflection led internally and counseling from other colleagues are limited, so an off-site support system has been put in place. In the pilot study, educators had the opportunity to receive weekly telephone counseling from experts in developmental psychology, inclusive education, and elementary education in cooperation with the elementary education program at the Private College for Teacher Education (KPH) Graz and the competency center for child development (Kompetenzzentrum Kindliche Entwicklung). Counseling sessions were led by means of solution-focused questions. Requirements for in-depth further education and training are collected and middle- to long-term programs are being designed according to available resources.
